Who is Alaric von Trelow?

Veteran war hero, former intelligence officer from the elite Prussian Foot Guards, Alaric von Trelow is man haunted by nightmares and violence. A man who saw war in all it’s horror and found it suited him.

Now he finds himself in a world at peace, he must forge a new life. Not for him the comfort of a quiet existence – he craves a life that offers him the challenges and danger he now needs like oxygen.

Weimar Berlin, between 1918 and 1933, was one of the most fascinating, vibrant, revolutionary, and often violent, cities in the whole of history.

From the ashes of war and a failed Empire rose a republic, a society, a city, that dared to be different. Revolutionary politics met revolutionary art – Dada, Expressionism, the Bauhaus, and more were founded or made their home there. Jazz bands, cabaret, the largest film industry outside Hollywood. Millionaire industrialists rubbed shoulders with ruthless gangsters in glittering nightclubs like the Eldorado or the Moka Efti. Communist radicals danced with dazzling actresses, whilst at nearby tables émigré nobility sold heirloom jewellery to shadowy fences. In clubs like the Silhouette, the women wore tuxedos, and the men wore evening dresses.

The city known as Electropolis, fuelled by new technology, new ideas, champagne, cocaine, and radical politics, tore through stuffy old propriety. It laid the foundations for the world we know today. Look at Weimar Berlin and you are looking at a dark reflection of our own world – stylish, glamorous, and ultimately doomed though it may be.
